First Generation (2000- 2010)

The MAZDA TITAN DASH went on sale in May 2000 as a 1.5-ton class small-sized model of the MAZDA TITAN. Its maximum loading capacity was listed as 1 ton to 1.5 tons, but

because

it used the same cabin as the TITAN, the TITAN DASH boasted a spacious and comfortable interior. Moreover, focus was placed on improving ease of getting on and off the vehicle, as well as securing plenty of storage space, leading to enhanced usability.

Three types of trunks were made available, depending on the user's needs and preferences: one that was all wood, one with a combination of wood on the floor and steel sides, and one with all steel. The trunk type using all wood secured plenty of space, measuring in length, width, and height at 3,120mm, 1,620mm, and 380mm respectively. This trunk was installed as standard equipment on the 2WD and 4WD, and as an optional setting for the 2WD double cab/long body. Additionally, in terms of the trunk equipment, a load rest with a storable stopper, steps, and other installments were made to heighten the functionality of the trunk. As for the outer panels on the sides, flat plates were used to make it easier to use it as a signboard.

In terms of the cabin, for the double cab, enough space was secured to make possible 3-person seating in both the front and the back. For the back seats in particular, so that passengers do not get tired when sitting for an extended period of time, a spacious interior was realized, as well as plenty of leg room, assist grips, and side steps. Furthermore, the back seats could be folded and stored to create extra trunk space that measured around 670mm in length.

The engine lineup consisted of the 2,000cc gasoline engine with 100 horsepower, the 2,500cc diesel engine with 88 horsepower, and the 2,000cc LPG engine with 80 horsepower.

The standard transmission that could be combined with this was the 5-speed manual transmission; however, for the 2WD 2,000cc engine vehicle, the 4-speed automatic was also made available.

In April 2001, the CNG engine was newly added to the lineup, boasting a displacement of 2,000cc and power output of 79 horsepower. Moreover, the fuel tank capacity increased to 185L due to the tanks installed on both sides, achieving driving distance of 280km with a single tank of fuel.

In December 2004, improvements were made to the diesel engine to increase environmental performance. The newly added inline four-cylinder common rail 2,000cc direct infusion turbocharged diesel engine was equipped with DPF to adhere to such regulations as the 2003 Gas Emission Regulations (New Short-Term Regulations), legislation regarding vehicle NOx/PM emissions, and traffic regulations for metropolitan areas. Moreover, safety features were enhanced as well, such as through the installment of driver seat airbags on all vehicles as standard equipment.

In August 2007, with the aim to improve environmental performance, several changes were made. For the diesel engine vehicles, the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) capacity was enlarged, and the engine's compression ratio was also changed. Furthermore, for the gasoline engine vehicles, improvements were made on the catalyst, contributing to cleaner gas emissions; as such, all vehicles adhered to the “New Long-Term Gas Emission Regulations (2005 Gas Emission Regulations.” Moreover, such equipment as intermittent windshield wipers and back panel trays were installed in all vehicles as standard equipment.
